Abstract — In a camera-projector system, the camera is an optical receiver, but the projector is projection equipment. Although the camera can project three-dimensional calibration points to an image, the projector has difficultly grabbing them. Thus, a method where the projector can obtain these calibration points is necessary. This paper describes an easy method to calibrate a camera-projector system using a flat board. Specifically, the calibration points are projected onto the flat board from the projector, and the three-dimensional coordinates of the projected points are calculated using geometrical invariants and reference points on the flat board. First, a set of calibration points is projected onto the calibration board from the projector. Then the camera captures the image of the calibration board where the corners of the flat board are used as reference points. Afterwards the geometrical invariants are calculated in the image, and the invariants are kept on the three-dimensional calibration board. Finally, Zhang's method is used to calibrate the camera-projector system after multiple measurements of the three-dimensional calibration points.
