The theoretical basis of the log likelihood ratio test (the G-test) is described, and instructions and tables are given for its use as a test of heterogeneity in contingency tables. g-Numbers of integers where g(a) = 2a In a are computed for integers up to 2009; and g-numbers of semi-integers when g(a) = 2a In a are computed for semi-integers up to 299 1/2. There is a marked saving in computation time over the customary Karl Pearson test.
