Ni/Al_2O_3 catalysts with different nickel content were prepared by impregnation method. Tolerance of the nickel-based catalysts to sulfur poisoning was investigated via hydrogenation of toluene containing thiophene in a fixed-bed continuous-flow microreactor at 1.0 MPa, 200 ℃ and LHSV (2.0 h~(-1)). Physicochemical properties and structure of the catalysts were examined by XRD, TPR,DSC and BET. The results showed that the catalysts with high nickel content exhibited very high aromatic hydrogenation activity and tolerance to sulfur, while catalysts with low nickel content (less than 6.0%) was likely to form NiAl_2O_4 of no aromatic hydrogenation activity.
