The article presents a case study of a 70-year-old man with a 2-year history of repeated erosive cheilitis. It states that the patient relates his skin disease to his musical hobby which is playing five different recorders. Based on patch test and prick test findings, his recorders made of African blackwood and rosewood are the causes of his skin disease. An overview of dalbergia melanoxylon, an imported tropical hardwood which causes allergic and irritant reaction, is presented.
