Normal Cu levels in human tissue are listed. The variation of these levels in hair and skin in the population is of a similar order to that of the individual over a period of time. The Cu levels found in tissues from a person poisoned with copper sulfate are compared with those from normal subjects, industrially exposed subjects and people with Wilson''s disease. The most certain indication of over-exposure to Cu is the finding of hair root Cu concentrations which are significantly above those in the hair shaft.
