Both the SCHEFFE procedure and the Conversations as Units of Modified LSD procedure showed the mean of the anthropology category was significantly different from the mean of the political comment category and the general interest category. It was not significantly different from either the sports category or the social comment category. T-test analyses of reader interest in the five categorks by sex, age and education showed significant differences (p1<.05) as follows: in sex, for sports (men higher), for social comment (women higher) and for political comment (men higher); in age, for political comment (older age group higher); and in education, for political comment and anthropology (higher educated group higher).
