Observations of Agromyza frontella females established that they mark the substrate after oviposition by repeatedly touching the leaflet and petiole with their ovipositor. Tests carried out under controlled laboratory conditions showed that, when marking, females deposited a water-soluble, oviposition-deterring pheromone and that it is probably produced in the abdomen.
