Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) is a distinct subset of cutaneous lupus that is very rare in childhood. However, systemic involvement appears to be more frequent in childhood SCLE when compared to adults. A 3-year old Indian boy presented with complaints of asymptomatic erythematous lesions on the face and body of 3-months duration. The mother reported that he had a history of photosensitivity. She also reported that he had lack of appetite and obstipation. However, there was no history of oral ulcers, recurrent fever, and arthralgias. Cutaneous examination revealed erythematous predominantly annular plaques on his forehead, cheeks and abdomen (Fig. 1).
