Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) are the second most common form of ectopy found with fetal echocardiography. PVCs have been considered relatively benign, but in infants, PVCs are correlated with ventricular tachycardia (VT), underlying heart disease, or long QT syndrome (LQTS), all of which have a more guarded prognosis. 1, 2Fetal echocardiography can assess PVC frequency, as well as the prematurity of the PVC (coupling interval), but only fetal magnetocardiography (fMCG) can assess beat-to-beat heart rhythm patterns and cardiac time intervals of a fetus, such as P, PR, QRS, and QTc intervals. We performed a retrospective single-center descriptive review of 44 fMCG studies that were identified as showing PVCs, from among 280 first-time studies performed in the Biomagnetism Laboratory at University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Medical Physics from 2010 to 2020 in fetuses 15 to 40 weeks gestational age. Six of 280 studies were excluded for technical quality. The fMCG recordings and measurements were performed as previously reported. 1, 3
