Among the many “moonshine” properties of the monster simple group considered recently by Conway and Norton, the Leech lattice and the representation of the Conway group ·Owhich it affords seem to play a particularly central role. In this note we show how some of their ideas—those involving so-called Frame-shapes—can be put in a somewhat more general context.
