The tensile properties and load relaxation behavior of extruded Mg–8Sn–3Al–1Zn alloy at 250 °C were investigated. Superplasticity was observed in the alloy, which exhibited tensile elongations of 450–1050% at strain rates in the range of 5×10-4–5×10−3s−1. Load relaxation results at 250 °C indicated that grain boundary sliding is responsible for the superplastic properties of the alloy, even though it does not act as a primarily operating deformation mechanism.
