Materials and MethodsChromatographically purified collagenase was purchased from Worthington Biochemical Corp.; protease-free RNase, Type XI-A, bovine tendon collagen, tannic acid, Sephadex G-200 gel, and NEM1* from Sigma Chemical Corp.; azocoll and Hepes buffer from Calbiochem and L-[U-uC] proline and DL-[2, 3-3H] tryptophan from the New England Nuclear Corp. Fertile hen eggs were purchased from Truslow Farms and incubated at 38 in a humid atmosphereto obtain embryos of various ages.
