Although historians will find little that is new i n HI isbin’s account of pre1970 labor law and policy in coal mining, he does offer fresh insights and examples about the post1970 period. especially the 1980s. Writing as a historian. 1 would say that the book offers an excellmt case study of some of the ideas of the law and society movement in political science. Many readers in both disciplines will find the book of value.
