We previously demonstrated that during anti-IL-6 antibody treatment, IL-6 accumulates in the serum in the form of monomeric immune complexes with the antibody.'3'By moni-toring the concentration of these complexes, we could estimate the production of IL-6 in a patient throughout the course of treat-ment.* 4'In patients who responded to the anti-IL-6 therapy, production of IL-6 never exceeded 20 pg per day.
