Nearly a decades’ worth of experimental efforts on solution NMR quantum computing have confirmed that such systems will not be scalable to a useful number of qubits, completely consistent with quantum mechanical predictions in 1997. However, the theoretical framework has led to new insights into the nature of coherence, correlation, and entanglement, and may ultimately help enable other magnetic resonance applications.
