Using a structured psychiatric interview, we interviewed 25 youths by telephone and compared information obtained from that group with information from a similar group of 25 youths who were interviewed in-person. There were no remarkable differences between the two groups. This suggests that in studies in which children are directly interviewed, the use of the telephone interview may prevent valuable information from being lost.
