Two new chromones, 8-(3-hydroxypropyl)-2-(3-hydroxy-1-oxopropyl)-6-methoxy-4H-chromen-4-one (1), 2-acetyl-8-(3-hydroxypropyl)-6-methoxy-4H-chromen-4-one (2), along with four known ones (3–6) were isolated from the fermentation products of an endophytic fungusAspergillus versicolorderived from tobacco. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including extensive 1D and 2D NMR techniques. Compounds1and2were evaluated for their anti-tobacco mosaic virus (anti-TMV) activities. The results showed that compounds1and2exhibited potential anti-TMV activities with inhibition rates of 35.3 and 30.6%, respectively, rates that are close to that of positive control.
