Several reports have analyzed those factors related to a couple's par-ticipation in Tay-Sachs disease screening programs and have sug-gested means of enhancing participation in future programs (Beck, Blaichman, Scriver, and Clow, 1974; Becker, Kaback, Rosenstock and Ruth, 1975; Childs, Gordis, Kaback, and Kazazian, 1976). In 1978 Fletch-er described the moral problems 25 couples experienced when the wom-an's pregnancy indicated genetic am-niocentesis. Other studies examined attitudes of mothers after genetic amniocentesis (Finley, Varner, Vinson and Finley, 1977; Globus, Conte, Schneider and Epstein, 1974; Robin-son, Tennes and Robinson, 1975).
