Objective: To evaluate whether age-related slowing of mental processing assessed by event-related potentials is more prominent in patients with Parkinson disease (PD) than in age-matched control subjects.Design: Consecutive case series of patients with PD and an age-matched control group.Setting: A university hospital in Nishinomiya, Japan.Study Participants: Twenty-eight nondemented patients with PD and 28 age-matched control subjects.Main Outcome Measures: The P-3 component of the event-related potentials was elicited during a visual semantic discrimination task.
