A two parameter function for fitting actuarial survival curves from cancer patients is derived from theoretical considerations. The function is fitted to two sets of data, one from patients with breast cancer and one from patients with stomach cancer. Each set is subdivided according to the presence or absence of metastasis. The fits obtained are quite good except for certain systematic deviations which are not consistent from one set of data to the next. Life expectations are calculated from the parameter estimates. Both graphical and least squares methods of fitting are considered.
