Objectives:The aim of this study is to investigate the relation between high-risk situations, self-efficacy, and demographic variables, and to examine predictability power of demographic variables on relapse precipitants among heroin addicts. Methods:The sample consisted of 105-inpatient males, who were admitted to Al-Amal Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for treatment. Two standardized questionnaires, Inventory of Drug Taking Situations (IDTS) and Self Confidence Questionnaire (SCQ), were used. Results and Conclusions:The results indicate there is significant negative correlation between financial status and both social pressure (SP) and pleasant time (PT) scores. Moreover, conflict with other scores was found to be significantly correlated with education. Regarding self-confidence subscale scores, the results reveal negative correlations between age and both positive social situation (PSS) and testing personal control. Similarly, education negatively correlated with positive emotions (PE). PSS positively correlated with financial status. Interestingly, all IDTS and SCQ subscales are negatively correlated. Further, it appears that 5 out of 8 high-risk situations (negative emotion, testing personal control, urge and temptation, conflict with others, and social pressure) were found to correlate positively with relapse incidences and admission rate.
