Summary1.An unialgal clone of the colonial freshwater alga Botryococcus braunii was obtained and its growth in culture studied.2.Pigments and other aspects of its chemical composition were examined.3.Changes in chemical composition with age were followed.4.Rates of endogenous respiration and the use of respiratory substrates were followed manometrically.
