Cobalt‐catalyzed [2 + 2 + 2] cocycloaddition reaction of 1,6‐diynes and nitriles to generate substituted pyridines has been applied to the polymerization of diyne–nitrile monomers, the reaction of which proceeded smoothly in a step‐growth fashion to provide linear polymers comprising pyridine structures in the main chain. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
