Embryos produced by hens fed varying levels of biotin were examined grossly for approximate age at death and any embryonic abnormality. Two pronounced peaks in embryonic mortality were noted. One such peak occurred at the first critical period and the other at the 3d critical period. Chondro-dystrophy in the embryo appeared to be one symptom of a biotin deficiency in the diet of the breeding hen. Syn-dactyly also appeared among embryos receiving suboptimal amts. of biotin while none were observed among hens receiving adequate levels of biotin. The relation of certain abnormalities appearing during this expt. to similar conditions observed under different exptl. conditions is briefly discussed.
