Serial plasma prolactin levels were measured following 18 generalized seizures, 10 partial seizures and 8 pseudoseizures. Prolactin levels were elevated following generalized seizures, but were normal following the other seizure types. Plasma prolactin levels may be helpful in differentiating between generalized and pseudoseizures. The optimal time for estimating the prolactin level was 15-20 min following the seizure.
