A comparative study on hydrological effects of forest litters and soil about 6 typical forests was carried out in north China mountainous region. The results showed that the total storage capacity of 6 typical forests litter was 6.35~23.32 t/hm2,the specific sequence was spruce forest larch-Spruce forest Larch forest Chinese-pine forest Broadleaf-Chinese-pine forest birch-poplar forest;the scope of the maximum water-holding rate for six types forests was 250.46%~56.47%,and the effective water-holding capacity was14.67~50.85 t/hm2,the hydrological effects of Chinese-pine forest litter was the worst among the six types;the average soil bulk density and total porosity of 6 typical forests were not different;the changes were 1.006~1.128 g/cm3 and 57.434%~64.001%;the scope of the total water-holding capacity of 6 typical forest soil was 1 618.264~2 685.788 t/hm2,and the relative water-holding capacity sequence of the 6 typical forest's soil was larch-Spruce forest Larch forest spruce forest Broadleaf-Chinese-pine forest birch-poplar forest Chinese-pine forest, but the stable infiltration time almost had no difference, after 20 min,the infiltration rate of all types was 0.24~0.30 mm/min.
