Zusammenfassung Im Beitrag wird das Verfahren der theorieorientierten Fallrekonstruktion als eine modifizierte Form der Fallrekonstruktion nach Rosenthal vorgestellt. Dieses Verfahren basiert zum einen auf einer Interpretation biografischer Daten, die weniger an (impliziten) psychoanalytischen Interpretationen orientiert ist. Zum anderen wird wahrend des gesamten Auswertungsprozesses – und nicht erst nach abgeschlossener Fallrekonstruktion – auch formale Theorie herangezogen. Das Verfahren eignet sich von daher besonders fur Forschungsfragen, die daran interessiert sind, mit ex ante Theorien zu arbeiten ohne die fallrekonstruktive Grundlogik aufzugeben. Schlagworte: Biografie, Fallrekonstruktion, Typenbildung, soziale Ungleichheit ----- Abstract The paper introduces the method of theoryoriented case reconstruction as a modiefied form of Rosenthal’s case reconstruction. This method is based on a less psychoanalytically- oriented interpretation of biographical data. Formal theory is applied not just after the case reconstruction has been completed, but throughout the process of evaluation. As a result, the method is especially suitable for research questions that lend themselves to working with exante theories without sacrificing the fundamental logic of case reconstruction.
