Fasting and Glucose-Stimulated Changes in Plasma Glucagon in Pancreatic Cancer: Potential Biomarkers for Detection?

RESULTSWe enrolled 14 patients, of which 5 had known T2DM and 9 were ND. Analyses of variance for glucose-induced changes in glucoregulatory hormones revealed statistically significant time× diabetes interactions. Thus, oral glucose tolerance data were analyzed separately for ND and T2DM patients. Baseline BMI, fasting glucose, insulin, glucagon, adiponectin, C-reactive protein, and CA 19-9 did not differ between ND (n= 9) and T2DM (n= 5) patients (P≥ 0.05)(Table 1).
