The text is clearly illustrated by several hundred diagrams of ideal or real current-polarization curves. An abundant bibliography with references completed up to 1958 closes each chapter. A collection of wellselected tables allows the reader to extend the views of the school of Charlot to other electrochemical systems. The translation is excellent. This is not a book which can be read at the rate of 2000 words per minute! The passages expressed in a quite synthetic form require some time to be slowly digested. Other passages could be shortened without decreasing the value of the work. Nevertheless," Electrochemical Reactions" can be considered as a milestone in the history of the electrochemical literature. This analytical book will find its place on the bookshelf of the electrochemist next to the classical Delahay's" New Instrumental Methods in Electrochemistry."
