Indoor measurements yield212Pb size distributions with a mean median diameter of the accumulation mode of about 200 nm. An average fraction of 13% of the activity is associated with the nuclei mode with median diameters smaller than 80 nm and about 5% of the activity was determined to be unattached. Outdoor measurements performed in the vicinity of Gottingen show that on average 87% of the activity is attached to aerosol particles with median diameters between 300 and 400 nm and 10% of the activity corresponds to the nuclei mode. Sometimes a small activity fraction (average 3%) was found in the coarse mode size range with diameters of some microns. Average thoron gas concentrations between 1 and 39 Bq.m-3were measured in different rooms. The decay product concentrations of212Pb and212Bi ranged between 0.08 and 0.93 Bq.m-3and 0.02 and 0.44 Bq.m-3, respectively. The mean ratio C(212Bi)/C(212Pb) of the indoor measurements was 0.4 and the outdoor value 0.3.
