The calibration of vibration pick-ups by the sine-approximation method has been examined. This method which uses a modified Michelson-type laser interferometer has been proposed as an ISO draft standard. The evaluation procedure, the experimental set-up and calculation of the uncertainty in the phase lag are reported. A piezoelectric-type vibration pick-up has been evaluated experimentally. Expanded uncertainties of less than in phase-lag evaluation have been obtained in the experiment.
