Let N be the set of all nonnegative integers. For S⊆ N and n∈ N, let R S (n) denote the number of solutions of the equation n= s+ s′, s, s′∈ S, s< s′. In this paper, we prove that if m and r are two integers with m≥ 2 and r≥ 0, A and B are two sets with A∪ B= N and A∩ B={r+ m k: k∈ N} such that R A (n)= R B (n) for all positive integers n, then r= 2 2 l− 1 and m= 2 2 l+ 1− 1 for some positive integer l. This solves a problem posed by the second author and Lev in 2016.
