LiTi2(PO4)3(LTP) with a three-dimensional network structure and Ti(HPO4)2·2H2O (TP) with a two-dimensional layered structure are typical phosphate crystals with different properties. Integrated microporous glass-ceramics with skeletons of LTP and TP crystals have been fabricated utilizing a novel finding that LTP is transformed into TP in acid solutions at temperatures 50°C. These integrated porous glass-ceramics are prepared from glasses in the pseudo-binary LiTi2(PO4)3Ca3(PO4)2system by controlled crystallization and subsequent acid treatment. Bulk samples with continuous pores of ∼ 30 and ∼ 50 nm diameters were obtained without serious cracking, or deformation. The synthesis route and procedures are reported with their microstructure and possible modifications.
