The article evaluates the relationship between the levels of selected subgingival species and the risk of periodontal attachment loss. For the study, subjects were examined at baseline and at 2 months for redness, bleeding on probing, suppuration, pocket depth, attachment level and subgingival temperature. The article views that subgingival temperature is important environmental variable affecting the composition of the subgingival microbiota. High subgingival temperatures resulted from the presence of microbial species.
