We consider the wave operators W±u =s − limt→±∞ e itH e −itH 0 u for a pair of Schrodinger operators H0 = − d 2 dx 2 and H = H0 + V (x)on the line R. We show that W± is bounded in L p (R)for any 1 <p< ∞ under the condition that � R1 (1 + |x|)|V (x)| γ dx < ∞, where γ =3i fV is of generic type and γ =4i fV is of exceptional type.
