RESULTSSerums were assayed for activity of GOT and GPT by the spectrophotometry and by the colorimetric procedures. All of the colorimetric determinations were made with a Bausch and Lomb colorimeter, using a 15-mm. cuvet. The spectrophotometric determinations were made with a DU Beckman spectrophotometer and the results were corrected to 25 C. 6 The change in optical density was plotted against the activity of transaminase, expressed in units as defined by Karmen2 (corrected to 25 C), and the best line fitted to the points (Figs. 2 and 3). The data in Table 1 represent a comparison of the results obtained from the assay of 121 serums for the activity of GOT and 34 serums for the activity of GPT. The correlation coefficients were, respectively, 0.97 and 0.91.
