Random failure is a typical character of rock under external load.A model consisted of a spring,a cohesion kettle and a mass is given and the effect of load interruption is studied through catastrophe theory and chaotic theory.Through numerical simulation,a phenomenon is found in which chaotic behaviour will take place with a certain amplitude load.
