The total synthesis of lithospermic acid has been accomplished employing two CeH activation reactions.as key steps. Fe-catalyzed Cross-Dehydrogenative-Coupling reaction was used for the rapid construction.of benzofuran framework. Pd-catalyzed ester-directed CeH olefination allowed the efficient assembly of.the dihydrobenzofuran ester and acrylate moieties.
