Measurements on cephalometric roentgenograms were made to indicate the stability of certain anatomic landmarks as related to dentulous and edentulous patients. The findings of the three tests demonstrate:1. The gingival two thirds rather than the incisal one third of the maxillary central incisors acted as main support of the lip in 70 out of 100 patients.2. The alveolar bone of maxillary central incisors is anterior to pointA.3. The most labial portion of the maxillary central incisor is anterior to pointA and to the alveolar bone.4. After extraction of anterior teeth, pointA remains relatively constant.5. The labial border of the denture, when fully extended and kept within the physiologic tolerance of the patient, lies in very close proximity to pointA.
