Human MxA protein inhibits LaCrosse virus (LAC virus; familyBunyaviridae) replication in vertebrate cells andMxA-transgenic mice. LAC virus is transmitted to humans byAedes triseriatusmosquitoes. In this report, we have shown that transfected mosquito cells expressing the humanMxAcDNA are resistant to LAC virus but permissive for Sindbis virus (familyTogaviridae) infection.
