The cortex of this animal exhibits the same course of differentiation as was found in the monotremes. Six formations are related to the hippocampus and eight to the piriform cortex; in addition, the anterior olfactory nucleus is large, like that in Didelphys. There appears to be a distinct claustral development. A fiber pathway, which may be the forerunner of the corpus callosum, is described.
