This study investigates how to use protozoa group as huge group of living micromachines. Motion control of proto- zoa is made by using the orientation phototaxis of Euglena. Blue laser scanning system is made for motion control. Its con- struction is that blue laser passed through two galvano-scanners to make the two dimensional positioning of laser possible, con- centrated by a convex lens and then irradiated into the experi- mental pool. After that, blue light is attenuated by high cut filter, and recorded by CCD camera with macro lens. Since there is little response of phototaxis of Euglena, red LED light is used for background illumination. Experimental results show that this system can make any shape of Euglena group by gathering along the scanned laser beam. It can also control the motion of an Euglena group, and we can move objects by using this Euglena group as a micro manipulation system.
