Powder neutron diffraction measurements on K2ReBr6(Tn= 15.3°K) below its Néel temperature have established that this compound possesses type 1 order. The results of the experiment on K2IrCl6are in agreement with those obtained by Hutchings and Windsor, who recently proposed that this compound has the type 3Aordering scheme. A detailed single crystal scattering experiment on K2ReCl6has yielded a magnetic scattering amplitude for the Re+4ion that is consistent with what one would expect from a dϵ3electronic configuration. The type 1 magnetic structure with the spin axis along a cubic axis in the plane perpendicular to the stacking axis, in agreement with the results of Smith and Bacon, has been used to obtain the magnetic form factor.
