Naturally growing fruiting bodies of Volvariella volvacea were the subject of our investigation. Our researc h team attempted to describe the dynamic changes in the mineral composition within t e fruiting bodies which were collected from a dump ing pit of household wastes in a rural community in the Philippines. Samples of frui ting bodies were air dried and subjected to element al analysis using Thermo EDX System (Noran System 6, Ultra Dry, 10mm2 SDD crysta l, 129eV resolution, NORVAR window, LN2-Free Type D etector) installed in Hitachi SU1510 Scanning Electron Microscope. Result s of our investigation showed that V. volvacea contains the following minerals: calcium, chlorine, iron, potassium, magnesium, man ganese, sodium, potassium, sulphur and silicon. Amo ng the minerals, potassium was the most abundant and distributed in the different par s within the fruiting body of a partially opene d pileus of V. volvacea. There was no marked trend in the distribution of the different m inerals within the fruiting body which implies that dynamic changes usually occur as a result of protoplasmic streaming of minerals within the fruiting body. This is the first report regard ing the dynamic distribution of the different minerals in the fruiting body of V. volvacea.
