The origin of microbands (MBs) and their development during the {111}<112> rolling of nickel single crystals was investigated by transmission electron microscopy. The spatial form and orientation of the MBs were established. It was shown that the MBs, once formed (reduction about 19%), are sites of localized plastic flow. The assumption of the relaxation nature of other elements of the defective structure (excluding MBs) is put forward. On the basis of the literature and our own experimental data a conclusion is drawn about the hydrodynamic mode of the plastic flow of the crystal due to the MBs.
