There are 14 species of Pselaphorhynchites Schilsky north of Mexico. These weevils were formerly part of the genus Rhynchites Schneider 1791. Three names are newly synonomized: micans (Voss), delectus (Fall), and sanguinipes (Voss). Lectotypes are designated for macrophthalmus (Schaeffer), aureus (LeConte), and cyanellus (LeConte), and 3 new species are described, dilatarostris, lindae, and striafrons . A neotype was selected for aeratus (Say). A generic key to North American rhynchitids and a key to species of Pselaphorhynchites are included. A description, host data when known, head and rostrum illustrations, and distribution data are given for each species. Male genitalia were photographed for 13 species and a line drawing is included for striafrons .
