Describes the Colorado Adoption Project (CAP), a multidimensional, longitudinal study that includes relevant family members. The core CAP sample includes 245 adopted probands along with their biological and adoptive parents and 245 nonadopted probands and their parents. The CAP test batteries and questionnaires elicit information about behavioral characteristics such as cognition, temperament, physical growth, and aspects of the child's rearing environment. Testing began when children were 1-yr-old; thereafter, Ss were tested at yearly intervals.
