The accessibility of the Swiss municipalities has changed substantially in the last 50 years due to the extension of the road network, improvements of the public transport and population growth. The paper describes how the required network models were developed and tested. Although the network models had to be simplified due to data problems, the overall quality of the travel time predictions is surprisingly good, when compared with the results of a user equilibrium assignment for the year 2000.
