Flow-induced particle orientation has been studied using aqueous slurry containing slightly anisometric particles (α-Al 2 O 3 ). A detailed description of particle alignment in green tape was quantified with a cross-polarized light microscope. Correlations among the exerted pressure in terms of H slurry /L, dimensionless flow profile, and particle packing structure were presented. Pressure-driven flow with a large H slurry /L value was found to promote a nonuniform particle packing structure (Type-I) observed through the tape thickness, while shear-driven flow was found to induce a relatively uniform packing structure, as the long axes of particles were mainly aligned in the casting direction (Type-II).
