The range of multimedia techniques used in the film is inspiring and includes studio interviews; clips from field trips; still photographs; aerial, handheld, and tripod shots; ‘selfies’; split screens; narration; music; and maps. Students interested in learning about a broad range of scriptwriting, filming, and editing techniques will find much to observe, count, describe, critique, or adapt to their purposes. I imagine that requiring students to record the many techniques used would be instructional when preparing for a documentary project.
